I tried to have the widgets be named for their content. And Stalked is the livestream feed from Facebook, my two wordpress blogs and my last.fm profile.

Katakana in Japanese is used for emphasis, much like how italics are used for emphasis in English. Many katakana words in romanji lyrics I’ve read since growing up has been capitalized, so I’ve followed suit to emphasize the katakana. But the “wo” and “mete” in Toki wo Tomete are both in Katakana, so that’d mean it would be written like “Toki WO toMETE”. I decided to go against convention and just write it in lowercase letters. I hope that makes sense.

Haha! Yes I just found the original German text yesterday! I think no translator found the poem interesting enough to do a official translation and publish it. I couldn’t find it in the Selected and Translated Hermann Hesse (which I purchased, trying to find the official English translation for “Somewhere”).

Funnily enough, your blog post came up while I was googling for this poem. I couldn’t find an English translation either. I doubt there is an official one. But I did find the original German poem.

Its German title is “Irgendwo” which does translate to “Somewhere”.
